Jeff Ward was born in 1973 in Nashville, Tennessee. At a young age he discovered his love and talent for drawing. Upon graduating high school he entered college as an engineering major, but soon realized that engineering wasn't for him. He transferred both schools and majors- he had his sights set on the ever-growing world of graphic design. Not much time had passed when he figured out that graphic design wasn't really what he wanted to do either. So, he went back to his original idea of being an artist and in 1996 he packed up and headed to Colorado where he began studying Illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art.

While living in Denver, he landed his first professional illustration job with Fisk Planetarium in Boulder, Colorado doing a set of illustrations for an audio-visual show entitled Distant Worlds. He met some great artists that gave him insight into the world of being a professional artist and developed a lasting friendship with them. And of course, there was the backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, which lent an inspiration for some of his landscape paintings.

In December of 1998 he again packed his bags and moved back to Tennessee. He spent some time producing house portraits on the side while trying to establish his name in the illustration industry. He was successful at his attempts and landed himself several small press magazine cover and interior illustration jobs, as well as some book covers. In October of 2002, Jeff married his wife Rachel. Jeff and Rachel live in a small, but not so quiet town in Northwest Tennessee with their ebony feline goddess, Athena, who lives up to her namesake.

Jeff has won several art show awards at Science Fiction conventions including: Tropicon XVIII, Orycon 18, and Constellation XV: Aquilla. Jeff continues to illustrate book covers and magazines. Most recently he's been focusing his abilities on creating eye-catching illustrations for the gaming industry.

The mad artist himself!
